FSC members comprise of a diverse group of representatives from environmental and social groups, the timber trade, paper industry, forestry profession, indigenous people's organisations, community forestry groups and forest product certification organisations from around the world. It is their job to ensure that the forests are managed to protect wildlife habitat and respect the rights of local communities.
The FSC 'Chain of Custody' is the process by which the source of a timber product is verified. Certification involves inspection and auditing of the land from which the timber and pulpwood originate and tracking it through all the steps of the production process until it reaches the end user. Only when this tracking has been independently verified is the product is eligible to carry the FSC Logo.
Choosing FSC certified papers makes a real difference, it:
• prohibits conversion of natural forests or other habitat
around the world
• prohibits the use of highly hazardous pesticides around the world
• prohibits the cultivation of genetically modified trees (GMOs)
• respects the right of indigenous peoples around the world
• controls each certified operation at least once a year – and if they are found not to comply, the certificate is withdrawn
The FSC, Mooks and you... the green team!
By using FSC Papers for our all of our stationery — your wedding stationery — it's an effective way for us both to demonstrate our commitment to a greener world. FSC Certified Paper tells you exactly what you need to know; that the recycled or virgin fibre content of the paper comes from sources that meet FSC international standards. This is why FSC is the only certification system supported by environmental organisations such as the Woodland Trust, World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, The Rain Forest Alliance and Friends of the Earth.
